Dreaming of Thailand

If you’ve ever tasted the food from Simply Asia, you will get an idea of what Thailand can taste and smell like. The aromatic flavours and exotic fragrances can transport you thousands of kilometres across the world, but we felt that isn’t enough. In Thailand, there are an endless number of things to do, experiences to be had and people to meet. It is a riot of colour, smell and above all life – from start to finish.

Bangkok is Thailand’s capital city. It’s fast-paced and never sleeps. The people want to have fun and they want to have it now. With an endless array of clubs and bars, you will battle to find time to wind down. And in the daytime,  there are the shopping districts to visit. Bangkok is not only a partier’s dream, but a consumer’s dream too! You might not get a lot of rest, but you will most definitely have a lot of fun. Don’t forget to try some of the street food – it’s fantastic!

But Thailand wouldn’t be Thailand if it weren’t for the beaches. The phrase ‘tropical paradise’ was made for the beaches and activities in Thailand. You can swim with the largest fish in the world – the whale shark, at Ko Tao. You can climb up the sheer sea cliffs of Krabi. You can also try your hand at kite-surfing and learn how to soar above the waves at Hua Hin and once you’ve tired yourself out you can take yourself off to a relaxing spa at Ko Samui – eating dinners out on the beach in the warm summer nights and remembering all your adventures. Don’t forget the cocktails!

To extend your relaxation, you can visit the numerous temples and holy sites that are dotted throughout Thailand. While Thai people know how to party, they also know how to pray. As you wind your way through the dense, lush forests you might notice a tree wrapped in linen, put there to honour the spirits that live there. From the hilltop temples that keep watch over rolling green vistas in northern Thailand to the loud and rambunctious religious festivals held in the northeast, all the way through to underground cave shrines in Kanchanaburi – you will never feel you are ungrounded spiritually when you are visiting Thailand.

We love Thailand. It informs all our decisions here at Simply Asia, and that’s why we brought the best of Thailand to South Africa – the food. There are four fundamental flavours in Thai cooking: Spicy, sweet, salty and sour and we have built our menu around these ideas. Thai food is as varied as the myriad spices used to flavour our dishes and regional differences make it endlessly interesting. Thai food can be found in noodle-shacks in Bangkok, as succulent seafood platters in Phuket and the Burmese inspired cooking of Mae Hong Son – and that’s just scratching the surface. Sweet tropical fruit can be found across Thailand too, offering the perfect ending to a great curry or a moreish treat in the middle of the day.

With so much to do and see in Thailand, the only way you can truly experience it is to go there yourself. You can eat at Simply Asia as many times as you like, read all the books, watch the documentaries and create scrapbook upon scrapbook of pictures – but in the end, you’ll never know why we love Thailand so much. And this is why we want to share it with the most important people to us – you, our customers.

All you need to do is order one main meal at any Simply Asia restaurant, fill out a form and put it in the box. It’s that simple! And before you know it, you could be on your way to Thailand to find out for yourself just how great it is!

Don’t take our word for it – get entering!
