This week on Expresso Morning show, our independent dietician, Annelie Smith, discussed the medicinal properties and health benefits of certain Thai ingredients, particularly those used in some of our dishes.
Annelie discussed how ingredients, in particular herbs such as ginger, coriander, lemongrass, garlic and fresh chillis are used not only to enhance the flavours of Thai cuisine, but also to heal many ailments.
Besides the herbs, Thai food contains lots of vegetables with many disease fighting properties, such as broccoli, cauliflower, shallots or onions, peppers, cabbage and sprouts. Our menu is filled with dishes that all include a variet of vegetables, low-fat protein like lean-meat satays, cashews, peanuts, tofu and protein rich soya.
And from authentic Thai food, we moved to authentic Thai fitness – Muay Thai. The national sport of Thailand and a martial arts form with a deep history. Also known as the “art of eight limbs” becaue it combines the use of fists, elbos, knees, shins and feet, Muay Thai is a great way to keep fit but also fantastic for self defense.
