Last year, we opened 7 new stores scattered in and around the Western Cape and Gauteng regions, and even our first store in KwaZulu-Natal – Ballito. This year, we’re on the path to opening even more stores, and taking authentic Thai to new regions across South Africa.
So, with this in mind, we’d like to introduce you to the newest inclusion to our tight Thai family – Simply Asia Southdowns. Situated in the lovely suburb of Irene in Centurion, our brand new store is nestled in the Southdowns Shopping Centre on the corner of Karee Street and John Vorster Drive.
Simply Asia Southdowns franchisee, Manjush Mathews, first discovered the brand back in 2006 when he visited our store in Clearwater Mall (Gauteng), “I loved the food and couldn’t stop going back for more. I figured that more people out there would love to enjoy the same food.” And with this he decided to get involved with the brand and find the perfect site to entice new customers and introduce them to our authentic taste of Thailand.
The building of the store commenced in early December and our Gauteng team worked long and hard hours to ensure that we met our anticipated opening date. As with any good development there were a few set backs, such as the water pipe from our upstairs neighbour bursting and flooding our store with only a week till opening. But that still didn’t deter the team, and the store was ready for a soft opening on Sunday, 17 February 2013.
