Once there was a man with a vision to create a noodle dish so tasty,
people would travel from all four corners of the earth for just one mouthful.

So he set out on a journey to sample the noodles of faraway lands,
and took the best of each to create the perfect noodle for his dishes.

He brought the recipe to South African shores where he realised his dream
of serving the most delicious noodle dishes in all the land.

And the rest they say, is history.

That’s the story of how our founder, Mr Chai, came to bring Simply Asia to  South Africa. 10 Years ago, Mr chai opened the very first Simply Asia Thai Food & Noodle Bar in Heritage Square, Shortmarket Street, Cape Town. A fresh, tasty and affordable alternative for diners looking to broaden their horizons with more exotic and authentic cuisine.

To prove that his concept worked and was not simply a passing fad, 12 company-owned Simply Asia stores were opened in Cape Town and Gauteng between 2003 and 2006. The success of the initiative led to all of these stores being convered to franchises.

Today, there are over 30 Simply Asia stores in the Western Cape, Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal regions, with many new stores being planned to open within the next few months. We’re even expanding into new regions, so watch out Port Elizabeth, you’ll soon have a taste for Thai in your town!
